Academic Search Premier

Due to our subscription cancellation of ProQuest, we have added the EbscoHost collection of databases to our electronic offerings. With this new array of products, we have been able to add thousands of additional full text journals to the collection and can easily integrate with our print collection. If you haven't had a chance to review any of the new products, such as Academic Search Premier, start with this short PowerPoint presentation.

Khalil Gibran's poetry and work

The Middle East Studies Program and the Middle Studies Club are presenting their first of several events for this Fall semester - the first one occurs in the Library.

~A celebration of Khalil Gibran's poetry and work~

As many of you know, Khalil Gibran was part of a wave of immigrants in the 19th and early twentieth century coming from Lebanon and Palestine to America. Gibran's poetry has touched lives for generations, but few remember that he came to the West from the heart of the Middle East.

~We will gather to read from the work of Gibran in the Library on the
West campus by the

Buzz Cafe
Wednesday October 1
7:00-9:00 pm

Tea and sweets will be provided courtesy of the Middle East Studies Club.

Children of Orphalese ..., bring your favorite Gibran poem to read or story to relate or painting to show.

RSVP on Facebook and then post pictures, commentary, and comments about the event.

Hello from China

Did you know that SBCC students are in China/Vietnam right now as part of the Study Abroad Program?

The overnight train ride was about 10 hours. The sleeping arrangements were similar to what one might see on an aircraft carrier with three beds stacks on one side and then another three beds stacked on the other side [below]. The train ride offered limited space. I think we all got to know each other pretty well after that experience. Some of us didn’t get very much sleep, but we managed.
