The library joins the SBCC Students’ Coalition in commemorating INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY.

The United Nations has designated September 21 as International Day of Peace. The International Day of Peace, observed each year on 21 September, is a global call for cease fire and non-violence. This year, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is calling on young people around the world to take a stand for peace under the theme, Youth for Peace and Development. People and communities around the world are joining together to offer their expressions in commemorating this day.

Visit the Library and look at the Drawings from Darfur exhibit highlighting children’s account of what they have witnessed in Darfuri Refugee Camps.

You can joing the SBCC Student’s Coalition in solidarity for peace by stopping by the Campus Center this week and listening to the 2010 Global Peace Day Global Broadcast.  Or, learn how Muslim and Christian women joined in solidarity to bring peace to Liberia by watching the movie Pray the Devil Back to Hell.
