Happy New [School] Year
We are eager to see you and learn about what you are learning. If you new to the Luria Library, watch this introductory video.
The library is named after our benefactor Eli Luria and was built in 1989. The library is one of the most busy places on the SBCC campus. And no wonder, we offer a dynamic, innovative, and exciting place for students. Besides offering all standard library services, the library also promotes cultural and academic activities by hosting student-centered events such as poetry readings, book clubs, the Day of the Dead exhibit.
If you are a student at SBCC, it is likely that you’ll come to our classroom for library instruction, and you might well use one of our eight group-study rooms or iPads, laptops, computers, scanners, printers, and copiers for your writing and research.
Where will you find “your place” from the 550 seats in the library. And there are books, too! The Library currently has over 115,000 titles in our collection, as well as 250 print periodical subscriptions, and many newspaper subscriptions. This collection includes 40,000 electronic books and subscriptions to over 60 electronic databases, providing access to over tens of thousands of full-text periodicals.
The Library staff consists of one library director, three full time librarians, one part time librarian, a Library Resident, and five classified staff members.
