Please Thank our Luria Library Friends!

Mr. Eli Luria

Across the country this week, libraries of every type are honoring their “Friends” and we have some especially good friends at Santa Barbara City College.

The Friends of the Luria Library is an organization comprised of community members interested in supporting the SBCC Luria Library. Our Friends raise money to support what we can offer to students, such as our weekend hours of service, iPads, and annual textbook scholarships. The generous donations of the members of our Friends provide us with resources and services not funded in the state budget and, without them, the Luria Library would not have been able to pursue many of its recent innovations.

The Friends of the Luria Library provide an extra measure of qualitative excellence which can be seen in every area of library operation.

The Luria Library was named in honor of SBCC Trustee Eli Luria,
who was a member of the College’s governing board from 1977 to 2003.

Mr. Luria served as co-chairman of a citizens committee, which worked to
acquire SBCC’s West Campus, where the library is located.

Mr. Luria passed away in 2006.

Let’s make our appreciation known to the Friends by posting our thanks on Facebook or tweeting @lurialibrary.
