Join us this month as the SBCC Bio Club teaches us about Riparian Zones, areas where freshwater streams and rivers meet land.

Why should you care? These zones hold a huge diversity of plant and animal life and are key breeding and feeding grounds for many migratory species.

Riparian zones are key habitats for some of our local endangered and threatened species such as Slender Salamanders, Steelhead Trout, and Western Toads.

One of the biggest ways to help riparian zones are to support our national parks system and if you are ever backpacking in a riparian area, be sure to keep the trail and stream clean.
