Most materials in the Luria Library subscription databases are from print sources that have been made available online. To use the subscription databases, you must be a member of the SBCC community. You will need your Pipeline account information to access databases from off-campus. When off-campus, you should see a login screen that looks like this at the start of each session.
Academic Search Complete (EBSCO)
This database provides full text for more than 8,500 periodicals (magazines, newspapers, and scholarly journals), including full text for nearly 7,300 peer-reviewed titles, in all subject areas. The database includes PDF content going back as far as 1887. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.
AHFS Consumer Medication Information (EBSCO)
Provides patient drug information, available in both English and Spanish, published by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Includes information for more than a thousand drugs written in language for the general public. Content is updated monthly.
Alexander Street Press Videos (Alexander Street)
Provides online access to nearly 43,000 academic videos (over 20,000 hours) in a wide range of subjects and disciplines, including: anthropology; the arts; business; education; engineering; environmental studies; ethnic studies; health; history; LGBT studies; psychology; and news. The database also includes over three thousand books and documents, and a dozen albums.
Alt HealthWatch (EBSCO)
Provides articles covering many perspectives on complementary, alternative, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. Includes full text articles for more than 180 journals and reports, many of which are peer-reviewed. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts. Includes abstracts of articles going back as far as 1984, and full text going back as far as 1990.
America: History and Life with Full Text (EBSCO)
Covers the history and culture of the United States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. Provides full-text coverage of more than 200 periodicals (magazines, newspapers, and scholarly journals) and nearly 100 books, and selective indexing for 1,700 periodicals from 1955 to the present.
AP NewsMonitor Collection (EBSCO)
Provides near real-time access to top world-wide news from Associated Press on a continuous basis. Includes AP Top News, WorldStream, Financial News, AP Online, U.S. Politics & Government and 50 State Reports. Immediate access to linked full text. The index to the full text content in AP News is held for a rolling 30-day archive, providing 30 days of news relating to your search interests.
Artemis (Gale) Provides access to Literature Resource Center, Literature Criticism Online (which includes Contemporary Literary Criticism, Nineteenth-Century Literature Criticism, Short Story Criticism, and Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism), and Scribner Writers Series in a single research environment. Includes primary sources, critical articles, literary and cultural analysis, and biographies.
A digital library of more than one million images in the arts, architecture, humanities, and sciences with a suite of software tools for teaching and research. The collections include contributions from international museums, photographers, libraries, scholars, photo archives, and artists.
AutoMate provides up-to-date service and repair information for thousands of domestic and imported vehicles. All content comes from the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and includes step-by-step repair information, diagrams, maintenance schedules, parts and labor estimates, service bulletins and recalls.
Business Source Premier (EBSCO)
Provides abstracts and full text articles from periodicals (journals, magazines, and newspapers), in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. Includes full text for more than 2,300 journals, including more than 1,100 peer-reviewed titles. Other full text content includes: company profiles for the world’s 10,000 largest companies; country reports; industry profiles; market research reports; case studies; SWOT analyses; and books. Full text content dates back as far as 1886. Searchable cited references date back to 1998.
CHOICE Reviews Online (ALA)
A premier source for reviews of academic books, electronic media, and Internet resources of interest to those in higher education. Each year Choice publishes more than 7,000 reviews.
CINAHL Plus with Full Text (EBSCO)
Comprehensive nursing and allied health research database, covering nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. Provides full text for more than 770 journals and more than 275 books/monographs, and indexing for more than 4,600 journals. Contains more than 2.8 million records dating back to 1981, with full-text coverage dating back to 1937. Also offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals, and book chapters. Searchable cited references for more than 1,350 journals are also included.
Communication and Mass Media Complete (EBSCO)
Provides full-text articles from over 450 journals in communication, mass media, and other closely-related fields of study. Also provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts for more than 570 journals, and selected coverage of nearly 200 more. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs and searchable cited references from their first issues to the present (dating as far back as 1915). Includes over 5,400 Author Profiles, providing biographical data and bibliographic information for the most frequently searched for authors in the database.
CQ Researcher Online (Sage)
An excellent source of pro/con information, containing single-themed reports on issues in the news. Provides in-depth, unbiased coverage of both sides of controversial issues related to health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Each 12,000-word report includes: an introductory overview; background and chronology on the topic; an assessment of the current situation; tables and maps; pro/con statements from representatives of opposing positions; and bibliographies of key sources. Offers access to CQ Researcher reports dating back to 1991, and access to CQ Global Researcher articles, which provide in-depth coverage of global affairs from a number of international viewpoints.
Credo Reference (Credo Reference)
Contains the full text of nearly 800 encyclopedias, dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, and other reference books covering all major subject areas. Thousands of Topics Pages provide articles from different reference sources, arranged by subject. Includes “gadgets” for finding images, definitions, people, pronunciations, quotations, and measurement conversations, as well as a concept map feature for help identifying keywords and broadening or narrowing a topic. Additional features include videos, maps, and animations.
Criminal Justice Abstracts with Full Text (EBSCO)
Includes full text and bibliographic records of leading journals in the criminal justice and criminology field, with more than 320 full-text magazines and journals. Covering a wide range of topics, it is an essential collection for students and scholars researching criminal justice and criminology. Comprehensive education database, providing access to education literature and resources, including hundreds of scholarly education journals. Contains more than 1.3 million records and links to more than 323,000 full-text documents dating back to 1966.
Ethnic NewsWatch (ProQuest)
Included are journals, magazines, and newspapers from ethnic and minority presses. The current collection, Ethnic NewsWatch™, covers 1990-present, and the historical collection, Ethnic NewsWatch: A History™, spans 1959-1989. Ethnicities include: African American/Caribbean/African; Arab/Middle Eastern; Asian/Pacific Islander; European/Eastern European; Hispanic; Jewish; Native People.

Gale Virtual Reference Library (Gale)
Contains the full text of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources. Subjects covered include arts, biography, business, education, environment, history, law, literature, medicine, multicultural studies, government and political science, religion, science, and social sciences.
This is a database of unique and diverse publications that focus on how gender impacts a broad spectrum of subject areas. With its archival material, dating back to 1970 in some cases, GenderWatch is a repository of important historical perspectives on the evolution of the women’s movement, men’s studies, the transgendered community and the changes in gender roles over the years. Publications include scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, regional publications, books and NGO, government and special reports.

Includes primary source material such as historical documents, photos, and maps. Also includes biographies of historical figures, and more than 80 hours of historical video.
InfoTrac Educators Collection (Gale)
Provides abstracts and full text articles from almost 300 magazines, scholarly journals, and newspapers, in the fields of education, technology, library science, coaching, and parenting.
Contains articles from hundreds of scholarly journals covering a wide range of subjects in the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. Full text articles are available, from the first issue (sometimes going back over 100 years) until five years ago. MagillOnLiterature Plus (EBSCO)
Contains information about literary works and authors. Provides editorially reviewed critical essays, brief plot summaries, extended character profiles, and detailed setting discussions covering works by more than 8,500 long and short fiction writers, poets, dramatists, essayists, and philosophers. Includes biographical essays and lists of authors’ principal works. Also includes a glossary of literary terms. In addition, 378 overview essays provide details about important literary genres, time periods, and national literatures.

A good source for advanced ESL (English as a Second Language) students. Contains full text for nearly 500 popular, high school magazines in a wide range of subject areas. EBSCO’s News Harvester provides near real-time access to thousands of top news feeds from around the globe. These feeds are monitored by EBSCO and relevant results are provided when users enter searches in EBSCOhost. This collection includes over 5,000 feeds across a range of business and general news topics.
