Keywords are the words you type into a search box to search for information on your topic. The words you use to describe your topic may be different from the words used by scholars in the field of Communication. For example, scholars who study nonverbal communication might also use terms such as body language or gesture.

Your assignment requires you to find research articles from scholarly communication journals. Appendix A in your textbook discusses the research and publication process in the field of interpersonal communication. See pages 339-340 of your textbook for a list of journals you can use.
To find research articles from communication journals, you will need to use the Communication and Mass Media Complete database, which provides full-text articles from over 450 journals in communication, mass media, and other closely-related fields of study.

How to Determine Whether an Article Presents Original Research
Not all of the articles found in communication journals are research articles. Some articles review research that has been done previously without presenting the results of original research. Other articles may include scholars’ opinions about trends in the field of Communication.
