This guide offers methods to understand and find scholarly periodical articles.

Distinguishing Between Magazines and Journals

Before you search, you need to know the difference between magazines and journals. Journals are also referred to as "peer-reviewed" or "scholarly" sources.

Finding Periodical Articles

Search for articles in the periodical database

AFTER YOU TYPE IN YOUR TOPIC, at the results page, make sure to select the box "PEER-REVIEWED" TO LIMIT YOUR SEARCH TO APPROPRIATE, SCIENTIFIC PERIODICALS.

You can also search for a specific title in the A-to-Z list of periodicals.

Interlibrary loan

If you find a citation for an article we do not have full-text, you can request the article through Interlibrary loan.
